Your Indian visa

Most visitors can get an e-Visa online. There's no embassy visit involved.

  1. Apply on the official government site, indianvisaonline.gov.in/evisa. Pick the e-Tourist visa.
  2. You'll need a passport valid for at least 6 months from arrival with 2 blank pages, a scan of your passport photo page, a square photo on a light background, and a card to pay.
  3. Apply at least 4 days before you fly. Processing usually takes up to 72 hours, but it can be slower in busy season, so don't leave it late.
  4. Print the approval email (the ETA) and carry it with your passport. You'll get the visa stamped at your first airport in India, which may be Delhi, Mumbai or Hyderabad rather than Vizag.

Watch out: many look-alike sites charge extra fees. Only use the link above. Already hold an OCI card? You don't need a visa.
